What is shown on a police check?

A police check lists an individual’s disclosable court outcomes (DCOs) if any. The DCOs are sourced from the databases of all Australian police agencies.

If there are no disclosable court outcomes (NDCO), the check result will return with a NDCO result.

  • The NDCO result means there is:
    • No police information held against the applicant;
    • No police information that can be released according to the purpose and category of the police check, and the application of relevant spent convictions legislations and/or information release policies.
  • A DCO result means there is:
    • Police information that can be released on the nationally coordinated criminal history check.

How long is a police check valid in Tasmania?

A police check is a “point in time check” which means there is no set expiry date. The results are valid up until the point of issue.

Rather, it can be as a result of the search algorithm matching shared data like names and date of birth.
